Marilyn King

8x8
Oil on Ampersand Gesso Board

Although I've been drawing and painting for over 30 years, I'd never taken the time to paint myself.  After participating in a portrait swap at the end of last year through Karin Jurick's blog "Different Strokes from Different Folks", I was inspired to give myself the gift of a self-portrait.  I wanted to go for that serious, sensitive, "see through your soul look", but I think I just look like I'm going to cry. I think I should have left my glasses on. hehe

  4. This is really nice. Did you do it by looking in the mirror or from a photograph?

  5. The emotion in the portrait makes it interesting - ambiguous. This is so very well done. Your skill is immense.
