Nine Mini Canvases

This is a self portrait I did on nine mini canvases, each 4x4. Each canvas can be moved around. I thought this mixed up version was far more interesting than when they were assembled correctly. I did the portrait for a portrait show where they were going to pick the best ones to be on a calendar. My portrait made the cover! Never thought of myself as a cover girl, but I guess I can say that now.

I set up a photograph to work from for this piece. More recently I began experimenting with creating a self portrait working from a  mirror, a task that has proven very challenging. I am now working in oil, pastel, and colored pencil, and I focus on portraits and figurative fine art.
